hi! i'm lesley from freaking craft.
holy cow. i'm freaking thrilled to be guest-posting on Between U and Me. courtney has such an inspiring blog here.
i live in virginia with my super cute and wicked cool husband, whom i call boss (ps, that's what he calls me, too) and our incredibly bright and dramatic daughter, lady m. as my profession, i'm an actor and an educator. so i'm artistic at heart. i have this innate desire to create. all. the. time.
i discovered the world of crafting. and i have to admit,
i freaking love it.
i mean. love. it. there's something so rad about finding something that i've most likely purchased at a thrift store or a yardsale and then transforming it into something brilliant. i'm into all things vintage. eclectic. thrifty.and awesome.
but i digress...
so have you ever been to a yardsale or thrift store and saw something that spoke to you. i mean, not, "hi, lesley. how's it going." but something about the piece was just screaming, "seriously, i know i look lame, but if you take me home, i'm sure you can make me cool again."?
i have. it happens a lot.
with this guy...
that's right. a brass eagle mod-podged with cupcake wrappers. and the best part...total amount for the project...$3. freaking craft. you can't do that...
so here's how it all happened.
at one yardsale this summer, i was sorting through piles of...eh-hem...junk. and found this brass eagle. if i were a blogger this summer, i would have known to have taken a pic of it. but i didn't. *sigh. but i'm sure you can use your imaginations.
a brass eagle. perched on a weird wooden stick.
and that's when it happened. i knew at that moment, he needed to come home with me. which he did. for a dollar. can you believe that? well, the boss could. he was very confused when he saw my eagle.
but i knew.
immediately i went to work. i spray painted him a mustardy-yellow. i almost stopped there. but i was at michael's and saw these little cupcake wrappers in the dollar bin, heard the angels singing overhead...and just knew. my little eagle and these cuppies were going to be besties.
and they were. it took about 2 packs of the cuppie wrappers. and a half a jar of modpodge (which i already had on hand).
don't you just love them?
i do.
and i might have a problem now.
i want to spray paint and modpodge everything.
which i am doing in full force for the christmas season.
come check out my blog, freaking craft. we'll have a good time. promise.
...ps. don't judge the quality of some of my earlier pics. how in the world did i ever try to do anything without picnik and other basic photo tips?...sheesh louise...
What a unique idea! I even have a brass eagle. Lol
