Cool Stuff - 14 Amazing Party Ideas {1}
I am thoroughly enjoying the cool off here in Southern California. Last night, the Mr. and I got all cozy on the couch and turned our (fake) fireplace on. We drank hot chocolate, watched football, and I burned my "Autumn" candle! It was pretty awesome!

Halloween Fishnet Pumpkins - {Tutorial}
Here's a little project I made the other day. We haven't had a chance to visit the pumpkin patch, yet, and so our porch was looking a little bare in the pumpkin department. I saw these nice looking plastic craft pumpkins at the Michael's Craft Store and pondered over what I would do with them for a couple days.
I had some fishnet stockings laying around that I ripped a big hole in a few months ago and so I thought, "Hmmm, can pumpkins be sexy? We'll see,..."
Skull Pillar Candle Holders - {Tutorial}
Hi all! I decided that my foyer table needed more of a Halloween influence rather than the fall motif I have going throughout the entire house. So, I was browsing around the internet for something awesome and I found these:
The only problem was, they're $30 and, well,... I think not!
So, I used my crafty resources and decided to fashion something. I had 3 of these bad boys laying around from when I went through a candle pillar phase (don't ask).
I went down to Michaels and picked up 3 paper mache skulls, a 1/4 inch dowel, and black gloss spray paint (40% off coupon!).

Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf "Hoodie" Costumes - {Tutorial}
I, seriously, could not bring myself to pay an obscene amount of money on Halloween costumes this year. It seems like it doesn't matter how much I spend, the quality is always lacking and it's just not as cute as I think it should be. So, I decided to make the kids costumes this year. I did a lot of brain picking and web surfing and decided L would be the Big Bad Wolf and E would be Little Red Riding Hood.
Red Riding Hood Costume:
(adapted from the Martha Stewart website)
What you'll need:
Red Hoodie
Brown Yarn (or yellow, red, black, whatever your little ones' hair color is)
Fabric glue or hot glue gun
Red felt or other fabric (2 x 2 feet)
Eyelet trim
Chip clip (you'll see)
Iron on hem tape (optional)
Needle and thread (optional)
Red grosgrain ribbon
Scissors
Measuring tool
String
Fabric marker
1. Start out by gluing or sewing your eyelet trim all the way up the zipper and around the hood.
Halloween Tulle Wreath - {Tutorial}
I love tulle! I mean, really, really love the stuff. The possibilities are endless and it has the potential to look cute, elegant, SCARY, or beautiful, or whatever! After E's birthday party and her adorable tulle skirt, I felt very inspired and I have been looking for ways to use tulle. I finally found my outlet... a Halloween wreath! YES!!! Okay, I went to Joann's and picked up a metal hoop, 3 rolls of black tulle, and some orange polka dot ribbon. It took me a couple hours (probably wouldn't have taken me so long, but I was watching TV most of the time) and then I was done.
I made my husband help cut tulle and while he was snipping and clipping he asks me,"Why do you like this stuff so much?"
"I dunno. It's so pretty and it's cheap, too!"
"I don't get it," he said.
When I was all done, I revealed the final product to him. "Seeeee... This is why I like the "stuff" so much."
Needless to say, he was convinced.
I think I might add some black sparkly spiders or something, but, for now, this is what I got. I think it's purdy,... I mean scary. Yeah, scary.

Fall Decor 2010 and Wire Pumpkin - {Tutorial}
I've decided that my neighbors think I am CRAZY because it's the middle of September and I have whipped out all the Halloween decorations for the front yard. But, I'm not entirely alone out there. I have been so inspired by everyone out in Blog Land and all the awesome magazines and such that I couldn't resist! I didn't realize how incredibly strange it was until I took L's new school year pix in the front yard and he was surrounded by October holiday decorations. Hmmm...
Anywho,... my mom took a couple days off work and we visited Tai Pan Trading where I am sad to say I have never been before. It was so awesome! If you have a chance to hop on over there, you totally should! I, literally, walked in and just looked up and side to side and below and all around with my trap hanging wide open.
I declared to my mom, "I think this is my new favorite store..."
She just looked at me and nodded," Yes, honey. I know. I've been trying to tell ya"
I took all kinds of pictures for inspiration:
After a trip to Michaels craft store, Joann's, and Tai Pan Trading, I was dying to transform the house for Fall. Oh! And there was the Home Goods store! I L-O-V-E that place! Okay, here's what I have going so far...
I wrapped those two pillar candle holders in some thick twine and *VOILA* fall candle holders and they only cost me the couple bucks to buy the twine. I didn't use any glue or anything. I just tucked the end in and wrapped around it so you couldn't see it. Just to make sure, it was really hidden, I just turned it around and it was hidden.

What was that you said? Where did I get that adorable wire pumpkin? Oh yes, I made that... I saw this great tutorial over at Someday Crafts and I jumped in the car and zipped over to Joann's and got some of this stuff: 
A couple twists and ties later and I had this adorable wire pumpkin! The best part is that it what super cheap and you can do a ton of different colors and sizes.
