Pottery Barn Kids Knock-Off Truck Mobile - {Tutorial}

After our daughter got a major bedroom makeover, I decided that her brother needed a little sprucing up in his. It's been a slow process, but one thing that he loves about his sisters bedroom is her awesome butterfly chandelier. So, he placed an order with his mother (me) for a similar one, but he requested "TRUCKS!"

I said, "Yeah! I can do that!" And I got to work,...

What you'll need:
Metal ring
Wooden shapes including Trucks
Wire
Leather Craft Lace
Spray paint
Hot glue gun
Hook for screwing in to ceiling
Drill

1. Prime and paint the wooden shapes and the metal hoop.

2. Then, drill a 1/8 inch hole at the very tippy top of the shapes and thread the leather lace through. Secure it with your hot glue gun.

3. Cut the lace at various different lengths and hang it from the painted wire hoop by looping it around and gluing with the hot glue gun again.

4. Lastly, screw a hook in to the ceiling and use the leather lace to hang it up. Voila!

All done! My little guy told me he "loved me more than ANYTHING" when he saw it. So, I guess he likes it! ;)

I hope you're having a happy day! :D

  1. Love it! Yours is actually way cuter than the Pottery Barn version. I'm expecting a baby girl and plan on making my own mobile too :-)

    WHERE RED ABIDES

    A day filled with scarlet, they say,
    Can make the sad heart skip and play;
    For where red abides,
    A little bird hides
    And sings every worry away.

  5. I seriously LOVE it when I see PB knockoffs that are so much cooler than the original PD version. This is super cute and even though my boys are in their tweens I think I just might make one :)
